Three Owners, One Roanoke Valley Tree Crew
Owned by the people who show up. More than two decades working trees in this valley.
J&J Started With Jeff and Jerry, and the Name Stuck
The J and the J are Jeff and Jerry. They started taking down trees in the Roanoke Valley more than two decades ago with a truck, a saw and a rule they still run the company on: the man who quotes the job is on the job. Garth came in as the third owner, and he is the one who writes the tree care guides on this site. The company has grown into cranes and chippers and a full crew since then, and none of that changed who walks your property.
That is the whole pitch. There is no sales department here, and nobody on this crew works on commission. When you call, you get one of three owners or the crew that works for them, and 20+ years of Roanoke Valley trees behind the answer you get.
These gentlemen have done tree work for me over the past 20 years... they are thoroughly honest and reliable and they show up to work when they say they will.

The Arborists Here Are the Owners
Most tree companies send a salesman to look at your tree and a subcontractor to cut it. Here a certified arborist looks at every job, which means the certification is not a badge on a truck door. It is the judgment being applied to your tree, by someone whose name is on the invoice.
Jeff Bower
Co-founder. The J that came first. He has been running removals in this valley.
Jerry Aldhizer
Co-founder. Runs the crews and the equipment, including the Manitou telehandler with the grapple saw that lets the crew take a tree out over a house with no climbing and no yard damage.
Garth Landis
Owner and the arborist behind the tree care guides on this site. A certified arborist comes out for every tree risk assessment and puts in writing what the tree has left in it.

What the Crew Will Not Do
We do not cut a tree that does not need cutting
If pruning or treatment saves the tree, that is the recommendation, even though the removal pays better.
We do not top trees
Topping forces weak regrowth that fails in the next storm. Structural pruning is the honest version of that job.
We do not leave a yard, a bed or a shrub worse than we found it
Brush chipped, wood handled, chips raked, drive swept. We leave your yard cleaner than we found it.
We do not quote a tree nobody has looked at
Photos help, and they speed things up. They do not replace an arborist standing under the tree.

Thanks. An arborist will call you back about the tree.

Tree Service Reviews From Homeowners
Jeff, Garth, and their team of guys worked very hard on removing this tree. They were all very nice and professional, in spite of this challenging job.

They honored their estimate quote that was over a year old.

We have used them many times over the years and have never been disappointed.
